Find out more »Transatlantic and Transpacific Alliances: Deterrence and Engagement in the Korean Peninsula
The first panel will assess the role of deterrence and engagement in dealing with the nuclear and missile security threat posed by North Korea, Russia, and other illiberal countries. It will be followed by a second panel discussing how NATO members and its partners, especially the Republic of Korea and Japan, address hybrid threats from the same countries.

Report Launch Event: The Future of EU-Korea Relations
The EU-Asia Centre and the KF-VUB Korea Chair invite you to a panel discussion on the Future of EU-Korea relations. The strategic partnership between the EU and Korea is strong and solid, as demonstrated by the 19 October summit between Presidents Tusk and Juncker with President Moon. But there is much more the two partners could do together, as illustrated in a new policy report by the KF-VUB Korea Chair, which identifies several areas in which cooperation could be strengthened to boost bilateral ties whilst promoting global security.

This Business Forum aims build on the momentum generated by the ASEM and EU-Korea Summits on 18-19 October. It will further promote business exchanges between Europe and South Korea by exploring the investment environment in Korea. This will involve a consideration of a range of sectors combined with an assessment of the country's approach to intellectual property rights.

Where do we stand in inter-Korean relations and with North Korea?
On 23 January 2019, the KF-VUB Korea Chair organised a breakfast roundtable and discussion on ‘Where do we stand in inter-Korean relations and with North Korea’. Welcoming remarks given by Prof. Dr. Ramon Pacheco Pardo, KF-VUB Korea Chair at the Institute for European Studies (VUB), were followed by an introduction by Prof. Dr. Moon Chung-in, Special Advisor for Foreign Affairs and National Security to President Moon Jae-in and Distinguished Professor at Yonsei University, on the state of inter-Koreans relations and US-North Korea diplomacy.
