About theĀ Seminar

This launch event in the Seoul Plaza Hotel will discuss the findings of the “Korea Matters for Europe/Europe Matters for Korea” research report published by KF-VUB Korea Chair, East West Center, Asan Institute for Policy Studies, and Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP).

The two-hour event will take place on 1 December at 09.00 AM CET/ 17.00 PM KST. It will be a first look at the report which will become publicly available on our website afterwards.

Welcoming remarks will be made by IES President Karel De Gucht, Asan Institute for Policy Studies Chairman Han Sung-joo and KIEP President Kim Heungchong. It will be followed by a keynote address by EU Ambassador to the Republic of Korea H.E. Maria Castillo Fernandez.

The report will be presented by Dr. James Kim (Asan Institute for Policy Studies), Dr. Joe Dong-hee (KIEP) and Dr. Ramon Pacheco Pardo (KF-VUB Korea Chair, Institute for European Studies).

The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with:

  • President Karel De Gucht (Institute for European Studies, VUB)
  • President Kim Heungchong (KIEP)
  • Ambassador Damir Kusen (Embassy of Croatia to the Republic of Korea)
  • Ambassador Ahn Ho-young (University of North Korean Studies; ROK Embassy to the EU, 2011-12)

Lena Schipper (The Economist) will be hosting the event.
